Bali came to me from Kennel Kingiza, her breeder was Mrs. Päivi Rantasalo. She no longer breeders actively. Bali was my first own Ridgeback. She was out of FIN CH Shadyridge Waziri & FIN CH Ikimba Kingiza. Bali was light wheaten coloured with black pigmentation. She was very energetic and happy dog with lots of attitude and spunk.

I got to know the breed in 1987 when I lived in the US as an exchange student and my host family there had a young RR bitch. My family in Finland has always had dogs so when I returned to Finland, I started to look for one of my own and I waitted two years for her. Bali was a very special gal and the memories of her will never leave my heart. She is still sorely missed.

My kennel prefix BAWABU stands in honour of Bali. Bawabu is Swahili and means GATEKEEPER. I have donated a Challenge Trophy named "Portinvartijan malja" (Gatekeeper´s Trophy) in Bali´s beloved memory. The Finnish Rhodesian Ridgeback Club gives it out yearly to a RR with most show points.
